This afternoon: Partly cloudy with a few isolated showers possible.

Tonight through Tuesday midday: Cloudy with scattered showers, some of which could be heavy and isolated thunderstorms.

SYNOPSIS:  

Despite the presence of a weak trough, low levels of moisture in the atmosphere will limit the chances of significant showers today. By tonight, remnants of Tropical Depression 9 will start affecting the local area. Bringing cloudy skies, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms to the forecast area. Motorists and persons in low lying areas should exercise caution.

Seas are expected to remain slight to moderate during the next few days.

STATE OF THE SEA: Slight to Moderate    WAVES/SWELLS: 4 to 6 feet

SPECIAL FEATURE:

At 11:00 AM, the remnants of Kirk was located near latitude 10.0 North, longitude 39.5 West or about 1675 miles southeast of St. Maarten. Kirk is moving toward the west near 23 mph with maximum sustained winds near 40 mph and higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast to occur over the next 48 hours as it moves quickly across the central Atlantic.

Currently this system does not pose a threat to St. Maarten.

The Meteorological Department St Maarten will continue to monitor the progress of the remnants of Kirk and update the public accordingly.

OUTLOOK through Wednesday midday: Partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated showers.
