SURFACE WINDS: This afternoon through Wednesday midday: North to west with a light to gentle breeze of 04 to 08 mph, becoming calm and variable at times.
SYNOPSIS:
Weak instability will persist across the region due to the presence of Tropical Storm Sebastian northeast of the Leeward Islands. Consequently, calm to light winds will be maintained over the local area, along with local isolated showers and a low to moderate chance of isolated thunderstorms particularly during the afternoon hours.
Seas are expected to peak near 6 feet during the next several days.
STATE OF THE SEA: Slight to Moderate WAVES/SWELLS: 4 to 6 feet
SPECIAL FEATURES: At 11am, Tropical Storm Sebastian formed at 20.1 North, 58.7 West or about 275 miles Northeast of the Leeward Islands. Sebastian is moving toward the North-Northwest at 8mph with maximum sustained winds of 45mph and higher gusts. Sebastian is expected to remain over open waters with a turn to the north is expected on Wednesday followed by a turn to the northeast and an increase in forward speed Wednesday night.
This system is not forecast to have a direct impact on St Maarten.
