SYNOPSIS:
A relatively dry and stable air mass will restrict shower activity across the local region. However, pockets of moisture at the lower levels of the atmosphere may cause a local shower from time to time. Additionally, the Atlantic high-pressure system will generate a gentle to moderate wind flow.
Moderate seas with waves peaking at 6 feet are expected through the next couple of days.
STATE OF THE SEA: Slight to moderate WAVES/SWELLS: 4 to 6 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE:
At 11:00 am, Tropical Depression 11 became Tropical Storm Josephine, and was located about 975 miles east-southeast of St. Maarten. Josephine is moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph. On the forecast track this storm is expected to pass north of St. Maarten late Saturday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph with higher gusts. Some additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
