WEATHER:      

This afternoon through tonight: Partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorm.
Friday morning through midday: Partly cloudy and slightly hazy, with isolated showers possible.

   

Forecast High: 32°C / 90°F             Forecast Low: 26°C / 79°F

SURFACE WINDS: 
This afternoon through Friday midday: Northerly to Northeasterly with a light to moderate breeze of 06 to 13 mph, becoming lighter and variable as time progress.  

    

SYNOPSIS:     

Pockets of moisture associated with Hurricane Teddy will account for periods of cloudiness, isolated showers and a chance of thunder during this forecast period.  Some showers may be moderate to heavy at times.  

Meanwhile, large northerly swells generated by Hurricane Teddy will result in hazardous sea conditions for the next few days. Small craft operators and seas bathers should continue exercising caution.

STATE OF THE SEA:  Moderate to rough         WAVES/SWELLS: 5 to 10 feet   

    

SPECIAL FEATURES:   

At 11am Hurricane Teddy was upgraded to a major hurricane. It was located about 650 miles east of St. Maarten. Based on the projected path Teddy does not pose a direct threat to the island. Tropical storm Vicky has been downgraded to a tropical depression, located in the eastern Atlantic. This system does not pose a threat to St. Maarten.  

Environmental conditions surrounding an area of low pressure located over the eastern Tropical Atlantic remains conducive for development. A tropical depression is likely to form over the next few days.  

THE METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT OF ST. MAARTEN WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THESE SYSTEMS AND UPDATE THE PUBLIC ACCORDINGLY.   

OUTLOOK through Saturday midday: Partly cloudy with isolated showers possible.
