RAPF releases crime figures for 2018 showing reductions

 

ANGUILLA--The Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF) has issued details of crimes committed in 2018 with comparisons with previous years. There are reductions in all sections and considerable increases in solve rates.

  In 2015 there were 155 burglaries and in 2018 there were 41 showing a reduction of 74 per cent. Robberies for 2015 were 84 with a drop to 14 in 2018. Thefts also showed a reduction of 44 per cent. Murders were the same from 2013 to 2015 as from 2016 to 2018 but there was a 62 per cent solve rate for the second period. The overall number of persons injured by the use of firearms was 32 from 2013 to 2015 and that was reduced to 19 in the period 2016-2018.

  The total number of crimes in 2018 was 782 and the solve rate was 78 per cent. There were 99 serious crimes of which 82 per cent were solved.

  In 2018 there were 41 burglaries, 63 cases of causing criminal damage, 128 cases of theft and 14 robberies. There were no cases of rape, indecent assault or obscene publication.
