MARIGOT--Last weekend’s Summer Family Fun in Bellevue was a fantastic success with organisers estimating some 600 children and 300 parents enjoyed the two days of fun.
Sweltering heat, swimming pools, water slides and trampolines proved once again to be a perfect formula for fun in a safe environment. The event was set up in a section of the market gardens in Bellevue. Children and parents came and went throughout the two days with the largest crowds forming in the cooler part of the afternoon.
Organised by SXM Horizon, in collaboration with Foundation for Hope and Music Development, much attention to detail was adhered to in terms of safety and security. Ample supervised parking with a one-way-in one-way-out system was trouble free. Supervisors, volunteers, swimming instructors and security staff were in abundance.
Entertainment and games were organised by the Funtopia crew while emcees Dutty Sham and Caution kept the crowds entertained. Music was provided by DJ Vybz. Various tents offered food, refreshments and ice cream. Water in the different-sized swimming pools was changed regularly with water trucks on stand-by.
“Everything went very smoothly and calmly,” noted President of Hope Music and Development Paul Whit. “I want to thank the parents for accompanying their children, so they could enjoy it to the maximum and to thank the population for coming out, the sponsors, volunteers and swimming instructors for making it a success. Little Disneyland is here in St. Martin.”
Whit disclosed due to popular demand the event will be held again in the same location on the weekend of August 25 and 26.
