PHILIPSBURG--Three persons had tested positive for COVID-19 effective Tuesday, but the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor VSA also reported a recovery rate of nine persons, bringing active cases down to 74.
The total number of confirmed cases for St. Maarten is now 1,072.
Collective Prevention Services (CPS) is monitoring 70 persons in home isolation and 173 persons who remain in quarantine based on contact-tracing investigations carried out by the department of those persons who may have been in contact with any of the active cases.
There are now four patients hospitalised at St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) and the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 remains at 25.
The number of people recovered since the first case surfaced in St. Maarten has increased to 973.
The VSA Ministry’s Airport Health Team in collaboration with Health Care Laboratory St. Maarten (HCLS) has tested 1,473 travellers arriving at Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) and CPS has tested 7,586 persons throughout the community.
CPS assured that as the numbers continue to fluctuate, it will continue to actively execute its contact-tracing measures.
VSA Minister Richard Panneflek reminds everyone to continue wearing a mask, maintaining a social distance of two metres, and practising good hand hygiene. “It is your duty to protect yourself and the ones you love,” said Panneflek.
