MOUNT VERNON--The rider of a scooter sustained serious injuries when he collided with a pickup mid-morning Thursday.
Gendarmerie Lt. Col. Sébastien Manzoni told The Daily Herald the scooter rider’s injuries included serious head trauma and a broken femur. He was rushed to Louis-Constant Fleming Hospital where he underwent surgery and was said to be in stable condition following the procedure.
Manzoni said the driver of the pickup had been making a turn into the parking lot of Al Dente Restaurant in Mount Vernon when the scooter rider appeared in front of him, and it was too late for either party to avoid the head-on collision. The driver of the pickup did not sustain any injuries.
