Sonesta Ocean Point hosts fifth ‘Chefs Night’

 

MAHO--Chefs Night returns to the all-inclusive, adults-only Sonesta Ocean Point Resort October 2-5, hosted by Chef Görgen Tiden and partner Chef Jimmy Stening.

  In its fifth run at Sonesta Ocean Point, Chefs Night will highlight the talents of a group of global chefs maintaining the event ethos that a gastronomic experience should be shared and enjoyed amongst family and friends.

  Celebrating St. Maarten’s comeback and Chefs Night’s 10-year anniversary, Chef Görgen is proud to continue this dinner event series on an island that has become his home away from home.

  Chefs Night will consist of nightly culinary events over four days, highlighting various dining venues at Sonesta Ocean Point, taking place in gorgeous settings with oceanfront views over Maho Bay. These gastronomic events will feature menus inspired by Scandinavian heritage and celebrate the local flavours of St. Maarten and the Caribbean, utilising regional ingredients and products.

  Sonesta Ocean Point is proud to host these world-renowned chefs, elevating the culinary scene in St. Maarten and in turn, broadening the gastronomic skill set of the hotel’s food and beverage team by working alongside this international talent. In addition, the island’s own Chef Ken Lin of Alina restaurant located within Casino Royale in Maho Village is participating in Chefs Night, bringing his signature culinary style to the event.

  Today, October 2, is Opening Chefs Night Dinner at Azul Restaurant in Sonesta Ocean Point.

  The VIP Candle Lit Dinner at the Point Pool Deck follows on Thursday, October 3, and Friday, October 4. The Chefs host an intimate al fresco dining experience under the stars at the spacious Point Pool deck while the soothing sounds of ocean waves lap on the shore.

  “Mingle with the Chefs” cocktails is at Casa Blue on Friday, October 4. This sophisticated open-air rooftop lounge is the ideal spot for unforgettable sunsets and views over Maho Bay and beyond.

  The Closing Chefs Night Dinner at Azul Restaurant is on Saturday, October 5. The final dinner at Azul promises to be an unforgettable one and a chance to celebrate new friends and culinary experiences.

  Participating award-winning chefs include Chef Stening, a barbecue pit master who participated in the 2016 Grillmästarna, the Swedish equivalent of Master Chef and the 2017 grilling competition between Sweden and Denmark, and lent his talents to the 2018 Chefs Night in Sweden.

  Chef Lin has worked in restaurants throughout his home country of Taiwan. In 2018 he became the chef and owner of Alina.

  Chef Elisabeth Johansson is a celebrated pastry chef, food stylist, published cookbook author and winner of gold and silver at the Culinary Olympic Games.

  Chef Brian Bojsen aka “The Crazy Dane” is a culinary TV personality, the new face of Coca-Cola in Germany, and owner of the popular Brian’s Steak and Lobster restaurant in Hamburg.

  Chef Jürgen Grossmann has worked at the two-Michelin-starred Sweitzer Stuben, as Chef de Cuisine and is owner of the one-Michelin-starred L’Escargot and Gässlingen. Chef Jürgen won the National Course of the Year award in Sweden and is an Honorary Member of Chaine des Rotisseurs.
