SURFACE WINDS:
This afternoon through Monday midday: East-northeast to southeast with a moderate to fresh breeze of 15 to 24 miles per hour, and occasional higher gusts.
SYNOPSIS:
A passing tropical wave will continue to bring scattered showers, gusty winds, and possible thunder to the local region. Some of these showers could be heavy at times and may cause street-flooding. Residents and users of areas prone to flooding are advised to be vigilant.
Seas will remain rough until Monday night. Therefore, small craft operators and sea bathers should continue to exercise caution.
STATE OF THE SEA: Moderate to rough WAVES/SWELLS: 6 to 9 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE: A tropical wave moving rapidly across the Lesser Antilles is fairly well-organized. This system has the potential for some slow development during the next 48 hours. However, this system will continue to bring showers and gusty winds to the Eastern Caribbean today.
The St. Maarten Meteorological Department will monitor the progress of this system.
