COLE BAY--Customers and workers of Caribbean Cinemas were evacuated after a small fire was detected in one of the electrical breaker rooms at 6:30pm Saturday. The Fire Department and police were notified of the incident and arrived in time to extinguish the fire before it spread throughout the building.
The fire produced a lot of smoke. Traffic on Welfare Road was stopped to provide safety for motorists passing by and to allow the firefighters to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries during the fire and the manager of the establishment stated that she had no idea what caused it.
The movies stayed closed until the smoke cleared up on Saturday evening. Management reopened the business on Sunday.
