The 339 million Netherlands Antilles guilders Liberty Latin America (LLA) will pay for government-owned United Telecommunications Services (UTS) regards both Curaçao’s 87.5 and St. Maarten’s 12.5 per cent of the shares, said Curaçao Minister of Transport and Spatial Planning Zita Jesus-Leito (centre) after signing the transfer documents in Willemstad.
From that purchase amount must be deducted an estimated NAf. 85 million in provisions for current and former employees, including redundancy schemes and unpaid pension premiums. Another NAf. 21 million is to be used for tax arrears and debts to the Bureau Telecommunication and Post (BTP).
