Prison directors of St. Maarten, Aruba, Curaçao and the Caribbean Netherlands met in Bonaire for a second time. Since 2016 this consultation structure was intensified to ensure an optimal cooperation. The intra-island movement of detainees, joint training and mutual assistance in the field of detention regimes are example of such.
“Working together provides strength and all the directors agree there are many good opportunities to encourage cooperation and thus the efficiency within the region’s prisons,” stated a release from the National Service Caribbean Netherlands RCN.
