A water spout occurred near Maho Beach/Mullet Bay earlier this afternoon and was clearly visible from Princess Juliana International Airport. Such phenomena usually occur over warm seas with light and varying wind conditions.
When coming ashore these can cause some damage, but they quickly fall apart once on dry land.
