Wilson received new Saba Festival poster

SABA--The official 2018 Saba Summer Festival schedule was officially presented this week to Saba Culture and Economic Development Commissioner Rolando Wilson by Saba Festival Foundation’s treasurer Julieta Woods. The festival is slated for July 23 to July 29.

Wilson said it is somewhat challenging finding sponsors due to the passing of the hurricanes. “It is no secret that we rely heavily on sponsorship coming out of St. Maarten ... we do not expect the type of sponsorship that we were accustomed to. However, we are grateful for those businesses that have already shown interest in our week of activities.”
He encouraged all troupe leaders to come out to play mass.
The youth of Saba are urged by Wilson “to get more involved.” The children’s parade is scheduled for July 22. Two local bands consisting of talented youngsters will be featured in the festival.
The festival will feature prominently the island’s drink “Saba Spice” and numerous activities for all ages. After many years, steel pan music will be featured on the line-up.
Wilson will present the key to Festival Village to selected persons who played an essential part in the summer festivals of years past.
“This year, even our senior citizens will be parading throughout the streets of The Bottom during the grand parade. From what I am gathering, all age groups will be celebrating our 43rd anniversary. Let’s do it in grand style, Saba and keep it safe ... let us make this Saba Fest 43 one to remember,” urged Wilson.
