MARIGOT--Following the deliberations taken by the Territorial Council of St. Martin and its Water and Sanitation Establishment EEASM on May 15, 2018, President of the Collectivité Daniel Gibbs, President of EEASM Dominique Riboud, Director General of Générale des Eaux Cyril De Vomécourt and UCDEM Director General Gérard Canton signed, on Thursday, May 24, 2018, the memorandum of understanding (MOU) formalising the termination of water production contracts and public drinking water and sanitation services on the territory of St. Martin.
This agreement provides for the withdrawal of Générale des Eaux and UCDEM from St. Martin on November 30, 2018. It guarantees that all local employees will be transferred to the future operator chosen following a competitive bidding procedure.
The procedure was launched with a double objective for the local government: selection of a new sole operator and the eventual reduction of the price of water distributed to the inhabitants of St. Martin.
