Work permits case

Former Aruban Minister Paul Croes is on trial along with several others for selling employment permits while in that function two years ago; the then AVP-politician claims that although he did give certain exemptions there was no reward for such. His wife M.P., driver R.A., secretary S.A. and policy advisor E.C. are also suspects in the case. A total of 32 witnesses were heard during the investigation.

The charges are: taking bribes, abuse of administrative power, embezzlement, money-laundering, offering employment to illegal workers and being part of a criminal organisation. A second directional court session will be held in September.
