Dear Editor,
I would appreciate if whoever continues to complain about the things that they don’t agree with would do like I do – get out there and direct their displeasures to government.
I will repeat for the umpteenth time: Whether good or bad, everything that happens in the country is the responsibility of government.
That messy situation is the sole responsibility of all of those in government who over so many years are continually looking to make a dollar between the dump, GEBE and themselves. They know very well where the bottleneck lies with that “waste to energy” situation. They also know that an incinerator is the most practical solution, but there is no money to be made with an incinerator.
By the way just Google the word “incinerator” and everybody will notice that again government is taking the people for a ride, because there are incinerators galore.
Do not put the blame on the garbage collectors. If there were incinerators, because it is difficult for us to find another adequate dump site, we would still have a beautiful salt pond and would not be bogged down with all the negative consequences of the decision of those who only take a decision when there is something in it for them and their shareholders.
The same goes for that minor problem which took up the complete page 10 of The Daily Herald of Monday, April 16, 2018. All that was necessary was for the heavy vehicles’ owners to get together with police brass and there would have been a solution, because that is what the man whose job is to solve problems does.
By now we should know that the problems in a community usually start with those decision-makers who do not take advice which accommodates the people, but which accommodates their pockets. That Minister could intervene, but the work will not get done if the police do not do what is best according to the situation.
And I will strongly advise anyone to never stop the police from performing their duty. Whether it is done with good intentions or not, or whether it is going to make you look good or not. That is the path of destruction. “Let me look into it” is the standard term. I do not like the term “I told you so.” It mostly comes after something bad happens to someone who was warned and did not take heed.
Make use of incinerators. I cannot pinpoint when, but I believe that MP Samuel brought that up on the past.
