CASTRIES, St. Lucia--St. Lucia proudly hosted the illustrious Thirtieth Anniversary celebrations of the World Travel Awards Caribbean & the Americas at Sandals Grande, on August 26. The event, gathering delegates from across the Caribbean, marked a significant milestone for the island nation, coupled with its remarkable victory in securing three prestigious titles, according to a press release from St. Lucia Tourism Authority.
In a resounding achievement, St. Lucia was named the “Caribbean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination” for the 14th time, while also clinching the title of “Caribbean’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination” for the second time. The pinnacle of this year's success was the coveted title of “Caribbean's Leading Nature Destination”, a maiden recognition that underscores St. Lucia's unwavering commitment to preserving its natural treasures, the release states.
Regarded as the industry's equivalent of the Oscars, the World Travel Awards is a globally acclaimed platform that celebrates excellence across the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors. Since its inception in 1993, the awards have embraced a wide spectrum of categories, encompassing destinations, hotels, airlines, cruise lines, tour operators and travel agencies.
Dr. Ernest Hilaire, Minister for Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture & Information, spoke passionately about the event, stating, "Hosting the 30th Annual World Travel Awards Gala has allowed us to showcase St. Lucia's exceptional hospitality and rich cultural heritage.
