Two morning earthquakes rattle Caribbean islands

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad--The University of the West Indies (UWI) Seismic Research Centre has reported two earthquakes Tuesday morning, one off Trinidad, another off Martinique.

  The first – a 4.3-magnitude quake – occurred at 3:58, some 98 kilometres (km) northeast of Martinique’s capital Fort-de-France; 112km east of Roseau, Dominica; and 141km northeast of Castries, St. Lucia.

  Then at 9:13, a 4.0-magnitude tremor struck 71km northwest of Port of Spain, 95km west-northwest of Arima, and 102km northwest of San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago.
