COLE BAY— Cricket St. Maarten honored its past and present cricketers and administrators with a glittering ceremony at the Motorworld Showroom on Friday night.
Imran Mc Sood Amjad, Chairman of Cricket St. Maarten, spearheaded the ceremony by gifting prizes to people who have influenced cricket on the island in some way.
St. Maarten superstar cricketer Keacy Carty received top recognition; for scoring the most ODI runs of any WI batsman this year, for scoring his first century and significant scores of 88 against Australia and 95 against Bangladesh, for being the joint-fifth fastest to 1000 ODI runs behind Nicholas Pooran and Ramnaresh Sarwan, Gordon Grenidge and Vivian Richards in 1st place, for making Test debut and for being named in the West Indies T20 squad against Bangladesh.
The massive number of persons honored fell into different categories.
Regional Players from St Maarten: Under-19 and above. They were:
Parsram Rishi Singh, Colin Hamer, Sherwin Peters, Moreland Le Blanc, Romain Doodnauth, Kenroy David, John Luke Lamboudiere, Keston Dornick, Akeem Charles, Mohit Hingorani, Shaquille Martina, Mrinal Wadha, Amarius Harris, Chamiqueko Landefort, Tyanick Honore, Devanand Singh, Israel Morton, and Antonio Fernandes.
Special mention was made of the following under-15 and under-17 Players: Jethan Edwards, Jaeden Bramble, Kyan Maccow, Samuel Morton, Randall Longeville, Michael Louis, and Troy Toney.
International Players from St Maarten included Daniel Doram playing for Leeward Islands, Netherlands, Sussex England and West Indies Academy and Michael Palmer playing for Leeward Islands, currently West Indies Academy and Harare Lions.
West Indies Players from St Maarten included Nathan Edwards playing for Leeward Islands, West Indies U-19(twice), Cricinfo Best Allrounder for U-19 World Cup 2024 in South Africa, Pakistan Junior League, Trinibago Knight Riders, New York Strikers (in Dubai), Bangla Tigers in Sri Lanka, Durbar Raj-Shahi in Bangladesh and Keacy Carty playing for Leeward Islands, West Indies U-19 World Cup team, Trinbago Knight Riders, West Indies Test, ODI and T20 Senior Player.
Posthumous Awards honored Charles Vlaun, Ben Vlaun, Vance James sr., Derrick Holiday,
Michael Franklyn and Jeanette Arrindell.
Special Recognition for commentators and scorers went to Emmanuel Joe, Keith Carty,
Jenilia ‘Donna’ Francis and Mario Martina.
Coaches Awards went to Keith Carty, Leonard Mc Rae, Parsram ‘ Rishie’ Singh, Kern Saunders
and Samuel Dharamraj.
Umpires Elijah “Spoony” Stapleton, Lynette Mc Farlane, Mervin Randolph and Bradley Attyl were also honored.
