CUL DE SAC--The local cricketers are all set to compete for places on the National Twenty20 team when two practice matches commence on June 2 and 9 at the Caribe Lumber Ballpark.
Some 36 players were selected in a provisional squad that will be trimmed to 16 players after the two practice matches. The members of the provisional squad were asked to turn up to a fitness test last week which is one of the criteria for selection in the 16-man squad. Most of the players enthusiastically went through the paces with trainer but some were unable to attend because of various reasons. Those players will do the test beginning today.
The players are preparing for the Leeward Islands Twenty20 tournament which will be held in early August here.
For the two practice matches, the players were divided into two teams. They are the Red Team and the Blue team.
The members of the Red Team are: Kenroy David (Captain), Mrinal Wadhwa (Vice-Captain), Iassie Clay, Sheldon Le Blanc, Romain Doodnauth, Moreland Le Blanc, Renel Blondell, Damian Beckford, Merwin Vallet, Kingzel Prince, Keshawn Charles, Cornelius Dupie, Michael Lewis, Amarius Harris and Rudesh Ramraj.
The members of the Blue Team are: Colin Hamer (Captain), Sherwin Peters (Vice-Captain), Gregorio Ritchie, Akeem Charles, Anil Persaud, Lerry Baptiste, Ron James, Damion Williams, Randell Longville, Troy Toney, Joel Brown, Nathan Edward, John Luke Lambourdiere, Marlon Brutus, Chetram Ram and Jeremy Hodge.
Both practice matches begin at 2:00pm.
