SIMPSON BAY--Maxime Gibbs and Erik Spit, both from the Carib Swim Team were the overall winners in the first Buccaneer’s Beach Bar Ocean Swim Race on Sunday. Gibbs won the 600 metre distance with a time of 19:24. Spit completed the 2,200m course in 38:25.
More than seventy athletes participated in the first Buccaneer’s Beach Bar Ocean Swim Race, co-hosted by Carib Swim Team. The race featured two courses – the first was from El Zafiro Beach Bar to Karakter for a distance of 600m. The second race was from El Zafiro to Buccaneers, and consisted of 2,200m of tough ocean swimming through Simpson Bay.
For the 600m swim, first place finishers were as follows: 10 and under girls, Nikki Grandtner; 10 and under boys, Maxime Gibbs; 11-17 girls, Juliette Pocovi; 11-17 boys, Jai Gangwani; 18 and over female, Laurence Figeri; 18 and over male, Federic Besnard.
For the 2200m swim, first place finishers were as follows: 10 and under boys, Matias Piazza; 11-17 girls, Naima Dessout; 11-17 boys, Rashad Peterson; 18-39 women, Roxane Bouquet; 18-39 men, Erik Spit; 40 and over women, Isabel Adams; 40 and over men, Fabrice Bouquet; assisted (fins and snorkel) women, Annee Blaum; assisted men, Jeff Follner.
