Island Water World wins in the Anguilla

Team Island Water World won Racing class and Ecover was top of the multihull class in the Anguilla Regatta. Close racing , windy conditions and several breakdowns ensured an exciting and memorable weekend. Organised by the Anguilla Sailing Association in conjunction with the St. Maarten Yacht Club and Regattaguru this was the closing regatta for the racing season.

Action started Friday afternoon with a race from Simpson Bay to Road Town in Anguilla.  Solstice won Racing Class by six seconds on corrected time. In the Multihull class, Ecover finished ahead of Petro Jonkers.  On Saturday racing took place in front of Roadbay. In Racing class Team IWW and Solstice where keeping up the close racing and close finishes and managed both to have two first place finishers. On Sunday one race was scheduled and would be the decider for first position for the Racing class. Team IWW in the Melges 24, took the lead from the beginning and in perfect sailing conditions, took the last bullet and where overall winners, while Ecover won the multihull class.
