Monk-Guana Park opened in Madame Estate Saturday

MADAME ESTATE-- Monk-Guana Park opened with a series of football and other games for both children and adults at Madame Estate on Saturday.


Organized by the Who Cares Foundation the celebration of the re-opening of the pitch which is used for training youth football. The celebration featured both a youth and adult football games. In the adult game it was men versus women. The women blasted the men 7-1.
Monk-Guana comes from monkey and iguanas as both have been spotted around the field, according to Nickie Owen of Who Cares.
After the games there was a ball controlling relay for and tick-tack toe relay. The sporting events were coordinated by Jean van Heynigen.
Chicken soup was donated by Sadis Bar & Restaurant in Sucker Garden. Johnny Cakes were baked by Albert and Shanoury Richardson. The Moms not only won their game but also donated drinks and soup bowls.
Beatrice van Heynigen served up the tasty meal while Levi Ford donated patties.
Invited guest were from Love & Grace Fellowship of French Quarter.
Supporting the occasion were Henry Duzanson, Gregory Arrindell, Ricardo Dinsey, Chris Ford and Benjamin Meloney.
