Rick Miller and Mark Yeatman win January Medal Play Golf

MULLET BAY--Rick Miller started this first tournament of the year, winning the January Medal Play Golf Tournament organized by the St. Maarten Golf Association SMGA. Saturday morning a total of 31 golfers teed off one by one.


  Miller finished the par 70 Mullet Bay Golf Course with a score of 70 strokes. It was enough to win both the Overall Low Gross for the tournament, as well as the 1st Low Gross prize in the Men’s category.
  Three strokes behind over 18 holes was Mark Yeatman who scored 73 Low Gross which, after deduction of his 8 handicap, won him both the Overall Low Net prize of the tournament as well as the 1st Low Net in the Men’s category.
  In the same category came the winner of the fewest putts. Stanley Samuel needed only 28 putts over 18 holes.
  In the Ladies Category, seven ladies battled it out amongst each other. Anne Marie Bouille won 1st Low Gross with a score of 88 strokes, 1st Low Net was won by Gitte Poulsen with a Low Net score of 69 strokes.
  In the category Senior’s for players between 50 and 60 years old, Howard Hobgood won the prize for 1st Low Gross with a score of 73 strokes, 1st Low Net was won by Philippe Thevenet with a Net score of 68.
  In the Super Seniors Category for players over 60 years old, 1st Low Gross was won by Keith Graham with a score of 86 and 1st Low Net was won by Francois Anton of 73.
  This Medal Play tournament included two of the talented St. Maarten youth golfers as well. Louis Louchet managed to score 87 strokes Gross and 70 Net, and Oliver Hobgood with a Gross of 101 and Net of 75.
