Roy Jones Jr. to fight on St. Maarten

PHILIPSBURG--Roy Jones Jr and Danny Santiago will step into the ring at the L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium August 29.

The card has been dubbed From Miami 2 St. Maarten as both fighters live in Florida. Former four division world champion Jones Jr (69-8, 44 KOs) is from Pensacola and former world title challenger Danny Santiago (33-7-1, 19 KOs) of Ocala.

"We were supposed to fight a few years ago. I was very heartbroken that it didn't happen, but I know boxing is a business and that is just the way things are," said Santiago. "Some people think I don't have a chance, but I'm a fighter and I always believe I have a chance. I want to fight the best and take on the people that everybody says I can't beat. That is where the true accomplishment is."

Archie Keaton of AK Entertainment is promoting the WBA boxing match and is planning a Boxing Week of Celebrity Concerts, Community gatherings, Foundation Support, Fund raising and a few Special Surprise Guests.

The Boxing Match will benefit youth boxing organizations in Miami and St. Maarten.
