Steeling and running feature in pro clinic

PHILIPSBURG--The week-long baseball clinic hosted by former Major League Baseball player Rafel Skeete from St. Maarten continued at the Little League Stadium on Pond Island from 2:30 to 5:30pm yesterday. Skeete who played outfield and was a record breaking base stealer added to Tuesday’s base running drills teaching the athletes age 9 to 16 how to get a step on the pitcher when steeling and then moved to the outfield to work on tracking balls.

Skeete signed with the Baltimore Orioles in 1985 and later played for the Milwaukee Brewers. He now is part of the Warriors Sports Academy in Atlanta that works to prepare young athletes mentally and physically for college.
He is visiting St. Maarten in an effort to set up ties to help local players realize their dream of attend college on a sports scholarship or signing a pro-ball contract.
