MARIGOT—Businesses or organisations wishing to get a team together for the 2016 edition of the Semsamar inter-company relay race on Sunday June 12, should be making preparations if they haven’t started already.
As usual the race, co organised by Avenir Sportif Club, consists of nine legs of about three kilometres each, starting from the border in Lowlands and finishing on the beach at Le Galion.
Leg five is reserved exclusively for women and leg six is for walkers. Teams must be composed of 10 runners, two of whom must be female and a male or female walker.
A complete team should consist of 17 persons; 10 runners including a walker, three substitutes, one Commissaire in a team car, 2 marshals to give directions and a team captain. A team can be made of three different businesses joining together.
Start of the race in Lowlands is 6:00am with the finish at Le Galion expected about two hours later (for the best runners). Prize giving, musical entertainment and breakfast will be held on the beach after the race.
Entry fee for teams is 150 euros. The number of teams will be confirmed on June 3, 2016, at midday, which is also the deadline for registration and payment.
A medical certificate not older than one month from the date of June 12 is required from all runners and substitutes and valid for the date of the event. No runner will be allowed to compete without this.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to one of the island’s charitable organisations.
