St Maarten Kickboxer wins by point in Curacao

CURACAO --After almost 9 months since his last fight, Jaheim Doram-Rene won his third fight by decision. In front of a sold out crowd at Team Farao’s Victorious fighting event on Saturday night 20 year old Jaheim Doram-Rene from St. Maarten fought one of the main bouts in the Curacao. Jaheim weighed in at 94.8 kg against Stephan Henriette at 91.8 kg from Curacao.

The fight was scheduled for 3 rounds of Kickboxing. Jaheim started the first round very strong and landed many kicks and punch combination on Stephan who covered up for defense. In the second round Jaheim started very strong again which resulted in Stephen getting a standing eight count from the referee to recover from a powerful round house kick to the head. As the round progressed Stephen tried to make up for the punishment received, and came back very strong with kicks to the legs of Jaheim. In the third round both fighters were showing signs of fatigue, and attacks went back and forth between the two fighters.

During the end of the round Jaheim managed to land a round house kick to the head which resulted in a cut on Stephen’s head. When the bell rang both fighters returned to their corners and waited anxiously for the judges to make up the score cards. When the referee called the results Jaheim was declared the winner. This is Jaheim’s third consecutive win.

The organizer of the event, Jassem ‘Farao’ Al Djilawi was impressed with the performance of Jaheim and has offered him to travel along with his team to regional events. At the event several other fights between Curaçao fighters and fighters from Surinam took place. The Sint Maarten Kickboxing team trains 3 times a week at Milton Peters College.
