Sunrise teams up with Player Development

Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise has teamed up with the St. Maarten Little League’s Player Development Baseball Team and EarlyAct Rotary Service Club to help save Engine 35. Making the presentation was Sunrise President Prakash M. Dialani  to Player Development president Emma Croes at the ballpark on Pond Island. Watching from Sunrise from (l to r) are Debbie Karani and Damali Bryson. Engineering 35 is Francine Fraser. Engine 35 was the last operating Steam train to run in New York.  Player Development as a member of the Rotary Community does both local and International Service Projects.  Locally the group has helped feed and clothes needy people around Pond Island and is now helping people moving out of the Irma Shelter.  Internationally they adopted Engine 35 to help the Oyster Bay Museum (WWW.OBRM.org) restore the Steam Engine. Player Development mixes school work with sports. The younger children start out learning to read with Thomas the steam engine books, thus the interest in Engine 35. Sunrise meets every Tuesday morning from 7:00 to 8:00am at the Belair Beach Hotel in Philipsburg.
