The techniques
Ayurveda refers to knowledge of life. It’s a traditional medicine from India but still practiced today around the world. It recognizes holistic medicine (which treats the whole patient, not the disease) and energy (which balances the flow of power in the body) through eight special areas including sexuality, psychiatry, aging, toxicology and even surgery. In St. Martin, only a few therapists implement Ayurveda preventive therapies (body treatments, massages, diet).
Yoga is inseparable from Ayurveda. It is a method for allowing any individual to progress to the highest levels of consciousness: There is a plethora of approaches (all roads lead to Samadhi!) with exotic terms such as the following:
- Hatha means strength: in Hatha Yoga, the body is balanced and strengthened from all sides and can sometimes take spectacular postures.
- Kundalini, one of the most important energies of the body derived from breathing, meditation chanting and the holding of postures.
- Pranayama techniques can capture energy of air that our bodies crave.
Well beyond relaxation and well-being, many scientific studies show that practicing yoga improves health.
Anyone can practice meditation (regardless of age, nationality or religious beliefs), one of the eight limbs of yoga, to develop perfection (Siddhi) coordination between body and mind. Achieving, even stealthily, a Siddhi is a very rewarding spiritual experience for everyone, which shows the progress already but especially how the path to perfection (Siddhi) is a long and winding road.
