If there is one thing we can all agree on, it's that exercise is easier with music. We used to have to run or power-walk without it, then there was the walkman, the Discman (which never worked well) and at long last, the iPod. Each one was a step towards a better experience for the athlete in training. Now, finally, avid swimmers can join in the advantages of having music while they exercise.
We heard about it a few years ago, but after getting back into the pool recently, I went online to find out if the underwater MP3 player was actually something that works. I checked out some product review, watched some videos on YouTube about the options and then on a leap of faith, I ordered an iPod shuffle that had been impregnated with silicon sealant by a company called AudioFlood. It sells on Amazon for $139 and comes with specially designed earphone with short cords so it doesn't get caught up in your arms as you swim.
Now this is a real iPod shuffle, so it's got two gigs of memory (about 500 songs) and a battery life of 15 hours. So far, it's working great and I am so enjoying my laps with my favourite tunes playing in my ears. I have been swimming with the AudioFlood Waterproof iPod Shuffle for three months now and it comes with a two-year warranty, so I think this is well worth the price.
I am truly amazed by this little invention! Swimming laps in a pool is great exercise, but it has always been excruciatingly boring for me. Finally, I can lose myself in the music while I get in my watery workout!
