What we’re doing ~ Rolling for relief! ~

If you’re like me, you might have a tendency to get a knot in the old back muscles. You can’t always get a chiropractic adjustment or a professional massage, and even if you do sometimes, the therapist might not get the exact spot that is causing you pain. Enter the humble tennis ball and the art of self massage.

I have found that by putting the tennis ball against the wall and leaning my back against it, I can roll around on the ball with slow pressure to hit the spot that has the knot. Because I am in control of the pressure and placement, I can really work out the tension. ac5Some people find putting a tennis ball (or two or three) into a sock helps them arrange themselves just right. Others find lying on a yoga mat on the floor is helpful. The tennis ball will help with your lower or upper back strains; even hips and legs can benefit from a roll on the old yellow spalding.

If you look online, you can get plenty of more ideas along these lines, and of course there are rolling products you can purchase, but the bottom line is with very little effort, you can take care of your aches and pains and all you really need is a wall and a ball. Try it! We are doing this now all the time – it really works!
