Hero Cats: Brave and Caring

Cats can occasionally be a pain, but they can be amazing heroes as well. Not only do they possess a keen sense of smell, but just like dogs, they can be fiercely loyal and territorial. Here are some amazing stories of hero cats that have made it onto the internet.

Tara

A stray kitten followed a family home from the park one day and was adopted by them. The cat, who the family named Tara, was much loved by the family and loved them in return. She loved her small humans the most, allowing them to pull, push, carry, and sometimes sit on her without ever hissing or scratching them. When one of her small humans, four-year-old Jeremy, was attacked while riding his bike by the neighbour’s dog, she raced to the rescue and body slammed the dog that attacked her precious owner. The commotion alerted Jeremy’s mother who was also hurt while trying to stop the attack. Jeremy received 10 stitches in the emergency room after the attack but his parents agree that if it wasn’t for their hero cat Tara, it would have been a lot worse. See the entire video of the attack taken from serval security cameras on YouTube.

Masha

Masha was just an ordinary cat walking around outside when she came across a box. Thinking it was the perfect place to rest for a bit, she jumped inside to find it was already occupied…by a baby. Instead of walking off and finding a new box, Masha lay across the baby to keep it warm, and yowled, until someone came to see what all the commotion was about. If it wasn’t for Masha, the baby may not have been found in time.

Leo

When his owners’ house was broken into, Leo hissed and yowled at the burglars not only scaring them away before they could steal anything, but also waking up his owner who was able to call 911. If it wasn’t for Leo, who knows how many items his owner would have lost that were not only monetarily valuable, but emotionally valuable too.

Aren’t these cats amazing? And they aren’t the only ones; there are cats who serve as therapy cats that help children and adults with their mental disabilities and challenges. There are cats who save their own kittens by going into a burning building. There are cats that save their owners by waking them up or alerting them to a gas leak or heart attack. But most importantly, there are cats who day-in-day-out love and cuddle their humans unconditionally. Is your cat a hero?
