This past Saturday, people around the world celebrated some of the most impactful professions on a child’s life. You can probably guess who has had a great influence on your learning and development – it’s your teacher!
World Teachers Day is held every year on October 5, to celebrate all teachers around the globe. Observed since 1994, it is a day to celebrate how teachers are transforming education, but also to reflect on the support they need to fully deploy their talent and vocation, and to rethink the way ahead for the profession globally.
Themed “Valuing teacher voices: towards a new social contract for education”, the 2024 celebrations highlight the urgency of calling for and attending to teachers’ voices to address their challenges. But most importantly, benefiting from the expert knowledge and input that they bring to education.
