Fierce Fishing Competition!

Fierce Fishing Competition!

~ 8th Annual Wahoo Tournament this weekend ~

Two days of sport fishing will culminate this Saturday and Sunday afternoon in weigh-ins at Bobby’s Marina in Philipsburg, on the dock right by the 12 Meter Bar. It’s sure to be a party with fishermen and women touting their achievements and telling tall tales.

Registration and Captain’s Briefing will be held on Friday, October 30, at Bobby’s Marina from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Prize giving will be in the late afternoon of Sunday, November 1, at the deck by the 12 Meter Bar.

Bring the whole family down to see the amazing catches coming in both days! DJs will keep music playing all afternoon and live music will push the party into the evening hours. There will a fun kids’ corner and good food on sale. And, of course, there will be an opportunity to buy FRESH FISH!

The tournament will be exciting as the competition has always been intense. Between 20 and 30 sport fishing boats from St. Maarten/St Martin and the region are expected this year. More than US $12,000 in cash and prizes is up for grabs. Last year’s champion boat was from St. Barths, Tahla’o, and they are keen to keep the crown.

Since 2008, the winners’ parade has included Jus Enuff (SXM), Fast Forward (Nevis), Challenge (SXM), Nathalie Kate (SXM), Follow Me V (St. Martin), and Bouffy (St. Martin). The record for biggest single day weigh in is held by Jus Enuff in 2008.
