Dine - Little Thaï Savanh’

~ Something new, something fresh ~

We were the very first customers EVER to step through the brand new doors! Yes! Thaï Savanh’s got a second location called Little Thaï Savanh’ and it is fabulous. I can’t gush enough about this very cute and sophisticated “hole in the wall” just opened on the Simpson Bay strip.

During the day, it’s not as easy to spot while you are whizzing down the road. But it’s there and it’s got everything the original has. Little Thaï Savanh’ is a cool spot with a professional and welcoming team. I felt so at home in this very new atmosphere.

Not too long after our drinks came, our appetizers arrived. We kept it simple with the Satay Chicken: Traditional chicken sticks marinated, then grilled and served with homemade peanut sauce. I love trying peanut sauce from different cultures and different restaurants, and Little Thai Savanh really has its very own unique peanut sauce that’s crazy delicious and can’t be had anywhere else (except at its sister location in Cupecoy). I can go on and on about the gorgeous peanut sauce, but I must of course mention that we also had Nems: Inside was chicken mixed with vermicelli and vegetables, rolled in rice paper, fried and served with mint and lettuce.

We totally enjoyed the light and crispy Nems, perfectly marinated satay chicken with its gorgeous peanut sauce and we were on the mains as they came to the table perfuming the air with the fresh, heavenly scents of exotic ingredients. There came our Pad Thai; the famous rice noodles stir-fried with eggs, vegetables and their special tamarind sauce. Also on the table was Gang Ped; Red Curry cooked with vegetables in coconut milk, flavoured with fresh basil.

I don’t know how else to describe it, it was so refreshing, everything was that good. We topped it off with dessert: apple-filled thin samosas with vanilla ice-cream (a nice take on apple pie), soooo good, and the chocolate fondant cake, perfect serving for one, power-packed with lots of chocolate; a gooey chocolate filling, and topped with ice-cream, just delicious!
