The Department of Sports & Culture has partnered with NAGICO Insurances to host the first ever Health, Sport & Culture Expo at Raoul Illidge Sports Complex this Saturday, August 27.
This Health, Sport & Culture Expo is a free event and is the first of its kind. The objective is to give the public access to health consults and checkups from practitioners in the various fields of medicine, and to showcase all the major sporting and cultural organizations on the island. Attendees will get the opportunity to witness demonstrations, interact with the groups and to sign up to join any group of their choosing.
The event will kick off at 7:00am and continue until 3:30pm with wellness checkups and consultations by medical practitioners, fitness classes by top instructors, and demonstrations by various sporting groups of all genres. These include:
•Yoga class
•Zumba class
•Diabetes testing
•Blood pressure testing
•Cholesterol testing
•Eye exams
•HIV AIDS rapid testing
•Salsa class
•Obstacle course
•Dance performances
•Ballroom dancing
•Speed swimming & aqua aerobics
•Watermelon & apple eating challenge
•Capoeira and much more.
“We are excited for this event, because our annual Health Fair became a staple event post-Irma, but due to COVID we were unable to host it,” explained Lisa Brown; Marketing Manager of NAGICO Insurances. “This year, we decided to bring back our Health Fair, but to do it even bigger and better, by joining forces with the Department of Youth & Culture to make it a spectacular local showcase.”
“We are encouraging everyone to come out, dress comfortably to participate and have fun experiencing the array of activities we have planned with you in mind and lots of amazing prizes to be won,” said Brown.
