Come and see local musical theatre! Inspired by the music of Sade! For sophisticated audiences, i.e., adults only!
Sultry, sexy, sad and sinfully shameless, the music and dance production coming this weekend to Philipsburg Cultural Centre has a disclaimer: No kids!
In the tradition of Director Mikki-G, this is a story told through 40 various pieces of modern music, intertwining threads of hip hop, jazz, pop, urban, R&B and dancehall. The actors/dancers are veterans of Mikki’s previous dansicals, with the exception of the lead actress, Celina Monsanto, who has danced and wowed audiences across the island in various venues.
Celina is joined onstage by Rooseje Richardson, James Arrindell, Rochelle Muller, Melisa Boasman, Talya Pantophlet and Kammacho. Out ’n About visited with the performers earlier this week to observe a rehearsal which impressed and entertained.
Mikki-G has harnessed his vision, talent and inspiration to create, direct and produce a series of dansicals for which he has become famous. He finds inspiration for each production in modern music. Taking unrelated songs and linking them into a storyline with little or no dialogue, but plenty of emotion and creativity.
He has enlisted a small army of choreographers to bring his vision to the stage. The talents of Miss-Bee, Naomi Adriana, Audie Jansen and Kishana Vlaun have collaborated to create sensual dance and movement to the music of Sade, Caro Emerald, Phil Collins and other greats.
This story is the tale of the twisted lives of those caught in the tangled webs of poverty, drug addiction, prostitution and pain.
Each Drama has been for adults only, ages 18 and up. This show, like the previous ones, contain adult content, strong language and nudity. Viewer discretion is advised.
Tickets are $20 from various outlets (see ad) and all cast members. Four shows span this weekend through Monday. Gather up some of your more sophisticated friends and choose your show: Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 8:00pm plus a matinee Sunday at 4:00pm. Celebrate our local talent and jazz up your holidays with Jezebel.
