This place is spanking new with a lot of buzz, so we were really excited to experience it, having heard so many good things about the food being so delicious. We were kindly seated as we arrived, and met the chef who was real nice.
We quite liked the layout and the modern design of the restaurant; it’s a great-looking place. We decided to sit indoors in the A/C although the deck outside was pretty inviting as well.
There were a few specials on the dinner menu along with some lunch menu options. We were somewhat surrounded by food; well, not surrounded, but we could see various snacks and appetizer/tapas options ready to be dished out at the display counter. We learned from the staff that the lunch menu was really popular, and that Sale & Pepe also specialized in rotisserie chicken and takeaway options.
We learned in fact that there were many choices when it comes to one’s dinner. The chef spoke to us personally about all the choices we had and along with the basics from the menu and suggestions, we had our plates done our way. We were interested in the display counters and took a walk to find out their contents, some of which would be making it to our plates.
The food was out of this world, we enjoyed tons of varying antipasti, I’d fill a whole two pages if I tried to describe each of the various appetizers we had, but here we go: Sundried tomatoes with garlic in herbed olive oil; hefty, rich eggplant in a tomato cream sauce; roasted red peppers in olive oil; olives; eggplants smothered in rich and sweet, saucy caramelized onions; bruschetta; cheeses; and prosciutto and various other sliced, cured meats – very tasty and many choices to try out.
My partner ordered the veal with garlic spaghetti (I highly recommend it) and I ordered gnocchi with a rich, cheesy cream sauce. Out came the mains on large plates. Oh my goodness, we were in heaven! The portions are very generous, so I suggest you go hungry!
After all that feasting, we still managed to fit in some dessert: a white chocolate mousse with raspberry sauce for my partner; and, for me, the flan which also came with raspberry sauce.
I give huge thumbs up to Sale & Pepe, a beautiful place with mouth-watering plates, on the Simpson Bay strip. Welcome and bravo!
