Jimbo’s in Simpson Bay Yacht Club is a godsend for anybody who loves to eat Tex-Mex in a fun and creative atmosphere. Since opening, Jimbo’s has remained a staple place to find quality food at a good price. Expect larger portions that won’t leave you clamouring for more later.
Jimbo, the owner and namesake, pulls up his sleeves and gets into the groove of entertaining the guests. The ambiance is open-air, and dining meets custom water features, like the swim-up bar. Freshly squeezed lime juice is the heart of the best margaritas on the island; make sure you pick one up the next time you visit Jimbo’s.
The sizes vary and the flavours are in abundance. If you’re interested in trying your hand at the “Megarita” a designated driver is the way to go – it’s 81oz of pure amazingness served in the signature hand-blown Mexican glasses. Even the appetizers are massive!
The Crispy California Calamari and Mahi-Mahi Ceviche are great for single diners, but the Deluxe Nachos Grande and Tasty Taster are where it’s at for group diners. The Famous Sizzlin’ Fajitas come to your table still sizzling on cast-iron serving dishes, glistening with flavourful juices. The Fall-off-the-bone Baby Back Ribs do just what the name says; we dare you to eat them with a spoon.
Pescaterian? Try the Stuffed Grouper Chipotle or the Killer House-made Crab Cakes! The Sesame Seed Encrusted Seared Yellow-fin Tuna Caesar is a whole new take on a classic salad. No? Feeling like having some classic dishes? They’ve got certified Angus beef in a burger – aptly named the Best Burger on the Island. Vegetarians can get in on the action with the veggie burgers!
It’s not Mexican food if there’s no spice, and Jimbo’s Island Fire habanero hot sauce is the kick in the pants you were looking for! There’s one gracing every table! The menu is as vast as it is mouth-watering, so don’t be afraid to ask for a doggie bag if you can’t finish your courses. But the desserts are worth saving room for! The recommended favourite of chocolate lovers is the Sizzlin’ Brownie Sundae or the Banana Jimbojanga!
Happy Hour is full of two-for-one greatness every day from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Maybe if you’re stuck in traffic, you can wait it out at the bar! Jimbo’s is also very child-friendly and smack dab in the centre of all of the action. Located behind the pharmacy in the Simpson Bay Yacht club, it’s within walking distance of Pelican and Simpson Bay resorts.
Whether you’re on vacation or a local, Jimbo’s is an experience you need to have at least several times in your life.
