K1 Britannia’s 5th Annual Christmas Angels are back
to encourage the spirit of giving this holiday season
K1 Britannia hosts their fifth annual Christmas Angels program this year, and there’s no better way to give, show and receive love than being an angel for someone in need.
K1 Britannia Foundation initiated the Christmas Angels program five years ago with the intention to support vulnerable groups and local organizations during this time of year. The program has seen the local community come out year after year to make Christmas special and memorable for a child, teenager or elderly. This year, K1 continues the tradition of spreading compassion throughout the island of St. Maarten.
Hundreds of little Christmas angels will be hung on Christmas trees at the Government Administration Building on Pond Island starting tomorrow, Friday, December 14. Each angel was handmade with love by the program’s recipients. The angels represent children under protective custody, Sister Basilia Center clients, elderly persons of White and Yellow Cross Foundation, Mental Health Foundation clients, Ujima Foundation members, children at Player Development SXM or other underprivileged children who need some extra love this Christmas.
How can you participate?
Step 1: Encourage friends, family and colleagues to participate: Encourage others to take part in this special initiative during the holiday season.
Step 2: Visit the Christmas trees at the Government Building: More than 400 angels will be hung on our Christmas trees from tomorrow, Friday, December 14, to Sunday, December 16. Volunteers will be there from 9:00am to 6:00pm.
Step 3: Pick an angel: Choose one or more angels and volunteers will tell you the age and gender of the child, teenager or elder who made the angel(s).
Step 4: Buy a gift: Go out and buy a gift while you are already doing your own shopping.
Step 5: Return to the tree with your gift: Return by Sunday, December 16, at 6:00pm to the Christmas tree with your gift(s) in exchange for the Christmas angel(s).
Step 6: Hang your Christmas angel(s) up on your Christmas tree at home as a reminder that you made someone’s Christmas special this year.
Step 7: Take pictures and share with others to encourage them to do the same for years to come.
K1 Britannia foundation focuses on a variety of charitable projects on the island. Their main projects over the last few years have been primarily focused on rehabilitating at-risk, vulnerable and troubled youth and helping children in foster care through a variety of programs, including the annual Christmas Angels.
K1 Britannia Foundation believes it is in giving that we receive. Continue or join in for the first time by feeling the impact one single act can have on the most vulnerable in our community.
