‘Pink Phit Phabulous’ walkathon on Sunday

Breast cancer awareness will take centre stage on Sunday, October 11, for the annual “Pink Phit Phabulous” walkathon, which will get underway at Divico on Union Road in Cole Bay at 5:00am.

Pink Phit Phabulous walkers will paint the roads pink as they snake their way along the streets from Cole Bay to Philipsburg in an effort to raise awareness about breast cancer in the country. The event is being organised by the Elektralyetes and Positive foundations. Pink Phit Phabulous T-shirts can be obtained for “a small love donation” of US $5 each.

The walkathon procession will leave the start point at Divico on Union Road, head over the A.J.C. Brouwer Road, onto Bush Road, along Zagersgut Road, along ATh. Illidge Road, through Middle Region, along Sucker Garden main road, onto Walter Nisbeth Road, pass by Government Administration Building, onto Front Street, Boardwalk Boulevard and ending in the parking lot of Sonesta Great Bay Beach Hotel.

Coordinators urge participants to wear their pink T-shirts and help “make it a family event.” Water, drinks, fruit and “goodies” will be distributed during and at the end of the walkathon. The event is not a race; participants are therefore asked to cover the areas of the walk that they are capable of doing.

Additional information can be obtained from the Elektravoltage and Positive Foundation Facebook page.
