Don’t miss the Fixtape Release Party next week Saturday for The Tease Tape volumes 1 & 2 – twenty-four hot new tracks from St. Maarten’s very own SimpleTune featuring a string of local and Caribbean-wide talents.
Donald Carty, aka SimpleTune, is releasing the new album under his own label WeFACELife, and studio Faceoff Studioz. “The whole thing is easy to dance and groove to, but I try to put some messages in there with the music,” he says. “The whole thing is geared to a dancehall vibe, mixed together with Afrobeat.”
“The first album focuses more on dance songs, while the second one is a bit more passionate. I wanted to include a little something for the youth. The song “No Fears” is aimed towards them, focusing on two young people facing troubles and the forces of life.” Together with “Feel Right” featuring Michelee, it debuted on Laser 101.1FM last week.
SimpleTune collaborated with many other talents on the double disk, including Sigma Defence, Archer, Ziggy Chang, Parris, Acero 11, Ebony Empress, Solo Kween, Tha Hotshot, Metal and Darka Shadez.
The artiste wanted to work with a variety of local and regional artistes and has been experimenting with genres and evolving his personal music style. Carty grew as a musician focusing on rap with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony – one of his biggest influences as a teenager growing up and getting into music – but he has always been a big dancehall fan.
The new songs will be played all night by DJ Fabulous at the Fixtape release Party, and SimpleTune will be performing live with DJ Double D. Expect some special appearances.
The release party will be held at One Love Bar & Lounge in Simpson Bay, downstairs from Red Diamond, on Saturday, August 24. Doors open at 10:00pm. Entrance is US $8 and includes the double disk CD, and a Rude Boy drink, sponsored by Caribbean Liquors & Tobacco. Be there!
