Ivory, egg shell, and all the beautiful shades of white will be on display this Saturday, August 24, at Friar’s Bay Beach Café from 5:00 to 8:00pm. If you’re getting married and you’re tired of the same designs, or you want to add some flare to your ceremony with a personally designed, one-of-a-kind wedding dress, this is the place for just that!
The dynamic designer of Rahre Wedding Dresses, Wendy was born on the island and holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs. While working for UNICEF in France, she was first approached by a close friend to create a wedding dress that was completely unique. After witnessing the dress in action, more women approached her for personalised designs.
Fast forward to September 2018 and Wendy was finally able to open a showroom at 65 Boulevard Soult, 75012 Paris. Her showroom boasts over 30 dress styles and is a Parisian wonderland for a bride looking for something unique and special for her big day.
When asked about the concept of her dresses, Wendy said she draws a lot from looks that are simple, but with a touch of flare. Her two-piece dresses are eye-catching and a lovely change from the regular pieces we see today. There is also the element of being able to wear the dress to another function. “Wedding dresses are expensive enough; I would like my brides to have the option of using them again.”
Coming back to the island of her original inspiration, Wendy will be putting on a fashion show in the environment where the dresses were meant to be displayed. Her dresses are made for sandy beaches, flower crowns and women who don’t conform to society’s norms – all while being classy and well-cut.
