Through Cam's Lens: Goals

“Let’s toast to new beginnings, okay

Raise up a glass and say

For all of our tomorrows

And what was yesterday”

Every year around this time there is a huge battle on Facebook. Okay, it’s more of a debate. Well, it’s actually more of a case where people are spurting out their opinions and not respecting anyone else’s. The infamous War of New Year’s Resolutions.

Now you know there are levels to this “Infamous.” There are those persons who believe that resolutions are shi—stupid and those who believe they’re stupid and no one should make them and proceed to forcefully let you know this. We will now go over to those persons who believe that resolutions are “amaze-balls.” As you might’ve guessed, there are levels. Marc believes that resolutions are great, and he follows up with his list. Marko believes that resolutions are great, and he follows up with his list, but also lets you know that you shouldn’t do it if you won’t stick to it. Marky believes that resolutions are great, and he follows up with his list, but also murders you if he thinks you’re not going to stick to it. (LOL)

Like, guys, it’s really not that serious.

I will never understand why we can’t respect people’s opinions or agree to disagree. This is where I would insert the “I don’t know” emoji with the hands up. I do, however, look forward to laughing at all the people who go back and forth on Facebook bashing each other’s resolutions opinion.

Personally, I make resolutions every year. They are more like goals for me that I spend the year working towards. Some realistic and some I make a bit farfetched to give me something to really work at. A 2018-goals was to reach 10k followers on Instagram and I am currently sitting at a little over 6k right now. It may seem like a failed goal to some, but I know that I spent all year working towards it and gained somewhere near 2k new followers.

This year’s list includes travelling to somewhere that I’ve never been (LA I see you), sharpening my income streams, reading more books (this is on the list every year) and definitely focusing more on my spirituality. Sometimes our, well at least my, spirituality tends to get a bit lost among all the other goals and achievements, so this year it’s a priority on the list.

Over the years some goals were met, and some weren’t. I do, however, want to encourage everyone to set some resolutions. Even if you hate the term, we can just call them goals. It’s just a guide and measure to help keep us in line and pushing forward as we go through all that 2019 brings us.

FAM!! 2018 is over, Bruv! It was a crazy year to say the least, but it was filled with countless amaze-balls moments. Both achievements and disappointments are expected, as life plays its role in keeping us balanced and humble. Let’s all just keep working to become the best versions of ourselves.

I mean, or not, that’s cool too.
