Through Cam's Lens: One of Those Weeks

“Just one of them days

That a girl goes through

When I'm angry inside

Don't want to take it out on you

Just one of them days

Don't take it personal

I just wanna be all alone

And you think I treat you wrong”

This song is apparently talking about a woman’s period, which is not what I plan to talk about. This song is also about one of those days, and I want to talk about one of those weeks. Basically, it was a poor choice of songs to open with, but, whatever.

This particular week in July has developed a trend of being extremely busy for me. It’s the week of Art Saves Lives, and it always seems to coincide with big photography projects. There is usually always a special pop-up surprise that leaves me, well, absolutely annoyed. Stay with me here.

Art Saves Lives is basically a week’s worth of classes and workshops in different areas of the arts from international instructors. There is a showcase at the end of the week based on what the students learned. Besides just trying to be around and of course attending the showcase, some of the instructors are friends of mine and I always have the privilege of photographing them. In 2016, there was a small case of me sleeping in the car while I was waiting for one of the girls. Trust me, I was tired, and this was 7th. heaven sleep.

Last year, I missed a lot of the action. A company from Miami was here on a week-long marketing project and yours truly was the head photographer. I did manage to catch the showcase, however, this year it seems like I’m going to miss it. This year I’m tasked with being the official photographer for Miss France. I’m probably there right now, while you’re reading this; taking selfies and being confused by all the French being spoken. LOL. The issue though lies on Saturday when I’m double booked for a wedding. Two mixes up and several text messages later, missing this year’s showcase was confirmed.

Oh. Oh. Oh. Here comes the pop up. Coming out of the bathroom over the weekend, I stepped in some water on the bedroom floor. I looked up at the roof and saw that it was dry. Then I looked straight forward, kind of like Deadpool does when he’s talking straight into the camera. Guess who has a leak in a pipe under the floor? No, not him. No, no, not him either. YES, this guy! Like, how could I be so infinitely lucky? There is a hotel room with my name on it for the next few days. Let’s call it a silver lining.

Moral of this story: I’m super busy this week. Don’t cut in front of me in traffic. Don’t fix the road in Pointe Blanche when there are ships in port. Don’t! Let me live. Lol.

Okay, bye.

P.S. The Art Saves Lives showcases are always, super amazing! Please make an effort to come out on Saturday night.
