It could be you

It could be you

What happened at the Pointe Blanche house of retired judge Wilfred Manning early Sunday morning is many people’s worst nightmare. An unwanted visit by thieves ended up costing his wife Lelia her life.
She apparently suffered a heart attack due to shock caused by the incident. Her visually-impaired husband tried but was unable to save her.
That it regards a relatively defenceless couple makes this case even more regrettable. Hopefully persons saw, heard or at least know something and can help police prevent this duo of delinquents from creating other victims.
Home invasions are obviously extremely intrusive in nature as they violate one’s refuge and most basic sense of security. Such high-impact crimes also lead to most concern among residents.
That’s why when learning of investments and collaboration at kingdom level to fight so-called “undermining” activities like corruption and money-laundering, folks often wonder about resources to reduce these common offences they notice most. The former is obviously crucial to safeguard democracy and the rule of law, but the latter is just as important when it comes to the day-to-day lives of citizens.
It’s a small island and little stays secret very long, so these culprits too may eventually be caught. As for their relatives and friends, there is no valid excuse whatsoever to protect what can rightfully be considered enemies of society.
Remember, it could be you and your loved ones who are next.
