Chart showing percentages of populations administered first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
ANGUILLA--The Eastern Caribbean Currency Union has tracked the percentages of the populations in the Union that have been administered the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Anguilla has reached 59 per cent of its population vaccinated, which is way ahead of many of the other eight islands. As can be seen on the accompanying chart, Antigua and Barbuda are in second place with 32.3 per cent of the population receiving the first dose.
Premier Ellis Lorenzo Webster has consistently thanked the UK government for providing the island with the vaccines and declared that the island is lucky in this respect compared to neighbouring islands. The government is aiming to have at least 80 per cent of the population vaccinated before July 1, when the island will be opened to tourists who are fully vaccinated.
Anguilla currently has two active cases of COVID-19 and is still under strict regulations due to a recent cluster.
